Wir hatten den ganzen Tag gemütlich Zeit für unsere Abreise, denn unser Flug hob erst kurz vor Mitternacht ab... und das genossen wir!

We had the whole day comfortably time to get ready for departure, because our flight took off shortly before midnight only... and we enjoyed that!

Gegen Abend machten wir uns auf zur anderen Seite der Insel in den Nordwesten nach Port Glaud. Als wir dort um 16:30 Uhr im Del Place ankamen, schloss dieses gerade bis 18 Uhr… Zurück der Westküste entlang Richtung Süden hielten wir an der Anse Soleil im Chez Julien, das zwar für einmal offen war, aber der Kellner wusste nicht, ob der Koch wiederkommen würde... So fuhren wir weiter und hatten grosses Glück – oder war es Bestimmung? – das überaus sympathischen La Gaulette (https://lagauletterestaurant.business.site) an der Baie Lazare war für einmal offen! Und trafen wir Timo & Tina, denen wir bisher auf jeder Insel begegnet sind! Zur Feier des Tages verspeisten wir fantastische Slipper Lobster. : )

 In the evening we made our way to the other side of the island in the northwest to Port Glaud. When we got there at 4:30 pm at Del Place, it was closing until 6 pm... Back along the west coast direction south, we stopped at Chez Julien on Anse Soleil, which was open for once, but the waiter didn't know if the cook would come back... So we drove on and were very lucky - or was it destiny? - the very friendly La Gaulette (https://lagauletterestaurant.business.site) on the Baie Lazare was open for once! And we met Timo & Tina, whom we have met on every island so far! To celebrate the day, we had fantastic slipper lobster. : )

Um 21:15 Uhr fuhren wir dann vom Le Domaine de Bacova (http://www.seychellesvillasbacova.com) in Pointe au Sel los und erreichten den Flughafen nach 15 Minuten. Es herrschte eine entspannte Atmosphäre und kurz nach Mitternacht verliess die Emirates Maschine (https://www.emirates.com) Mahé mit etwas Verspätung wegen eines Koffers… Um 4:05 Uhr erreichten wir Dubai und 4 Stunde später ging es weiter in die kalte Schweiz nach Zürich, wo wir ziemlich pünktlich um 13:20 ankamen. Als wir in Dubai auf unseren Weiterflug warteten, dachte ich: Anstatt die folgenden 10 Tage in Quarantäne in der Schweiz zu verbringen, hätten wir diese Tage auch in Dubai verbringen können – die Vereinten Arabischen Emirate stehen zur Zeit auf keiner gefährlichen Corona-Liste...

At 9:15 pm we left Le Domaine de Bacova (http://www.seychellesvillasbacova.com) in Pointe au Sel and reached the airport after 15 minutes. The atmosphere was relaxed and shortly after midnight the Emirates flight (https://www.emirates.com) left Mahé with a little delay because of a suitcase... At 4:05 am we reached Dubai and 4 hours later we flew on to cold Switzerland, where we arrived in Zürich pretty punctually at 1:20 pm. As we waited in Dubai for our onward flight, I thought by myself: Instead of spending the next 10 days in quarantine in Switzerland, we could have spent these days in Dubai - the United Arab Emirates are currently not on any dangerous corona list...

Seychelles

Ja, der Corona Virus hat mir ein wunderschönes halbes Jahr auf den Seychellen ermöglicht – besonders weil fast keine Touristen unterwegs waren! : ) Als ich im November letztes Jahr hier ankam, war der Corona-Virus ein Ausserirdischer, der dann die Inseln Ende Dezember doch erreichte… Panik verursachte, dass sich 85 % der Bevölkerung bis Mitte März 2 mal impfen lassen liess… die Menschen wollten so schnell wie möglich zurück zum Gewohnten statt dass sie sehen würden, dass dies unsere Chance ist vieles zum Besseren zu ändern! Schockierend war, dass im Mai, als ich die Seychellen verliess, extrem viele Infizierte und Tote dafür sorgten, dass die Seychellen auf die rote Liste katapultiert wurden, was heisst: Quarantäne im Heimatland… Aber jeder, den ich fragte, wie er oder sie den Lockdown erlebte, antwortete: Endlich hatten wir Zeit für uns und unsere Familie!

Genau so steht es um Nachhaltigkeit und die Umwelt – überall auf der Welt… Jeder weiss, dass es existenziell ist, ist aber so vom Müll der Medien vollgeschüttet, dass er oder sie nicht mehr in der Lage ist zu handeln… und es gibt ja immer andere, die es tun…

Yes, the Corona Virus made it possible for me to have wonderful six months in the Seychelles - especially because there were almost no tourists! : ) When I arrived here in November last year, the Corona virus was extraterrestrial which finally reached the islands end December... panic caused that 85% of the population had themselves vaccinated twice by mid-March... people wanted to get back to what they were used to as soon as possible instead of seeing that this is our chance to change many things for the better! It was shocking that in May, when I left the Seychelles, an extremely high number of infected and dead people ensured that the Seychelles were catapulted onto the red list, which means: quarantine in the home country... But everyone I asked how he or she experienced lockdown, replied: Finally we had time for ourselves and our family!

This is exactly how it is with sustainability and environment - all over the world... Everyone knows that it is crucial, but is so full of media garbage that he or she is no longer able to act... and there are always others who do it...

Heutzutage kann man nicht mehr einfach sich und seine Siebensachen bereit machen und sich auf eine Reise begeben. Nein, heute muss man am Besten alles vorher buchen (vielleicht hat es keinen Platz - und es wird immer weiter produziert, als wären wir nicht schon genug… die immer mehr Abfall produzieren…)… Man muss sich über die Einreisebestimmungen informieren (die täglich ändern und heutzutage politisch und pro Staat anders behandelt werden – vor allem jetzt mit dem Corona Virus…). Wir mussten 72 Stunden vor Abflug einen PCR-Test machen und uns wurde das Euro Medical (https://euromedical.info) auf Eden Island empfohlen: Ohne Anmeldung warteten wir eine 1/2 Stunde und wurden dann von tollen Angestellten empfangen und getestet. Weil wir mit Emirates flogen, war der Test sogar günstiger. Nach 5 h erhielten wir alle unsere negativen Resultate und Zertifikat per e-mail – die Euro Medical sind wirklich eine super Empfehlung! : ) Auch die Einreise in unser Heimatland Schweiz war lange unklar… wir mussten uns on-line registrieren… Und bevor es dann wirklich los geht, muss man sich noch selber einchecken - sogar an den Flughäfen wird das Personal mehr und mehr gegen Automaten ausgetauscht, die nicht nur Arbeitsplätze rauben sondern auch niemals empathische und hilfsbereite Arbeitskräfte ersetzten können… Zudem erzeugen Automaten viel Abfall – so viel zu diesem Zyklus…

Nowadays you can no longer just get yourself and your belongings ready and go on a journey. No, today you have to book everything in advance (maybe there is no vacancy - and production continues on as if we weren't enough yet... who produce more and more waste...)... You have to find out about the entry regulations (which change daily and nowadays are treated politically and differently in each state - especially now with the Corona Virus...). We had to do a PCR test 72 hours before departure and the Euro Medical (https://euromedical.info) on Eden Island was recommended to us: Without registering, we waited 1/2 hour in line until we were received and tested by great staff. Because we flew with Emirates, the test was even cheaper. After 5 hours we received our negative results and certificates by e-mail - Euro Medical is really a great recommendation! : ) The entry into our home country Switzerland was not clear for a long time as well... we had to register online... And before it really starts, you must check in yourself - even at the airports staff is increasingly being exchanged for machines that don't only rob jobs but can never replace empathetic and helpful workers... In addition, machines generate a lot of waste - that much concerning this cycle...

An den beiden letzten Tagen auf den Seychellen suchten wir kulinarisch die Summer Bar (https://m.facebook.com/SummerBarMahe) an der Anse Intendance zum Apero und das Chez Batista (https://villachezbatista.com-seychelles.com) an der Anse Takamaka zum Lobster Dinner aus. Die Chatterbox (https://www.facebook.com/Chatterboxsey?_rdc=1&_rdr) auf Eden Island lockte uns nach dem PCR zum Frühstück herein und zum Abendessen fuhren wir nochmals die 5 km zum Surfers (http://www.surfersbeach.sc), an der Anse Parnel – Mahé ist echt eine coole Insel und man ist schnell überall! : ))

The Chatterbox (https://www.facebook.com/Chatterboxsey?_rdc=1&_rdr) on Eden Island lured us in after the PCR for breakfast and for dinner we drove one more time the 5 km to Surfers (http://www.surfersbeach.sc) on Anse Parnel - Mahé is really a cool island and you can get anywhere quickly! : ))

Bye Bye La Digue

Während meines genau 6-monatigen Aufenthalt auf den Seychellen, habe ich mich am längsten auf La Digue aufgehalten: und zwar 84 Tage – fast 3 Monate! Das Schönste an dieser 3 x 5 km kleinen Insel ist, dass sie weit entlegen ist… wenn man wie ich Glück hat ohne viele Touristen zu reisen, dann hat man hier die Ruhe und Entspanntheit pur – man will gar nicht mehr weg! Aber wie ich dokumentiert habe, landet auch extrem viel Müll (vor allem auf dem Seeweg) an die paradiesischen Strände hier… Was muss man noch tun um die Menschen aufzuwecken???

During my 6-months stay in the Seychelles, I stayed in La Digue the longest: 84 days - almost 3 months! The best thing about this 3 x 5 km small island is that it is remote... if you are lucky enough like me to travel without many tourists, then you have pure peace and relaxation here - you don't want to leave anymore! But as I have documented on the contrary, extremely large amounts of rubbish ends up on the paradise beaches here (especially by sea)... What else do we have to do to wake people up???

Nach einem gemütlichen und ausgiebigen letzten Frühstück im Hotel Patatran (https://www.patatranseychelles.com), packten wir unsere Siebensachen während meine Mutter eine Verdauungspause machte… Dann war es Zeit uns von Lindy und dem anwesenden Personal zu verabschieden, denn um 13 Uhr wurden wir von Germain abgeholt.

Nun ging es noch auf eine letzte Inseltour durch meinen geliebten Urwald… und einen letzten Kokusnuss-Mango-Passionsfrucht-Drink in der Bikini Bottom Bar (https://www.facebook.com/BikiniBottomSeychelles) bevor uns Germain 2 Stunden später im Jetty ablud.

Now we went on one last island tour through my beloved jungle... and one last coconut-mango-passion fruit drink at the Bikini Bottom Bar (https://www.facebook.com/BikiniBottomSeychelles) before Germain dropped us off 2 hours later at the jetty.

Um 15:30 Uhr verliess die Cat Cocos (http://www.catcocos.com) La Digue. Nach einem kurzen Halt in Praslin wurde die See stürmischer und meine Mam seekrank… ich will gar nicht davon erzählen, es war fürchterlich und es wurde auch mir schlecht – wegen ihr!

1 ½ Stunden später erreichten wir Mahé, wo uns Ted von Victoria Car Hire (victoriacarhire@hotmail.co.uk) ein Mietauto für unsere letzten 3 Tage hier in den Seychellen organisiert hatte. Wir fuhren die ca. 30 km und Minuten zu Henri (Le Domaine de Bacova http://www.seychellesvillasbacova.com) nach Pointe au Sel, wo ich bereits 2-mal auf dieser Reise gewohnt habe, und wir richteten es uns im brandneuen Apartment auf dem Strand Anse aux Courbes ein. Zum Abendessen ging es nach Anse Royal zum Surfers (http://www.surfersbeach.sc), das war nicht allzu weit weg (5 km), zuverlässig immer offen ausser dienstags und ein grossartiger und leckerer Ort am Meer! : ))

At 3:30 pm Cat Cocos (http://www.catcocos.com) left La Digue. After a short stop in Praslin the sea became rougher and my mum seasick... I don't want to think about it, it was terrible and I felt sick too - because of her!

1 ½ hours later we reached Mahé, where Ted from Victoria Car Hire (victoriacarhire@hotmail.co.uk) had arranged a rental car for us for our last 3 days here in the Seychelles. We drove the approx. 30 km and minutes to Henri (Le Domaine de Bacova http://www.seychellesvillasbacova.com) in Pointe au Sel, where I have already stayed twice on this trip, and we made ourselves comfortable in the brand new apartment on the beach of Anse aux Courbes. For dinner we took the road to Anse Royal to Surfers (http://www.surfersbeach.sc), that is not too far away (5 km), reliably always open except on Tuesdays and a great and delicious place on the beach! : ))
