Als wir heute Morgen um 6:30 Uhr Kurs auf Silhouette nahmen, war immer noch kein Wind in Sicht, so tuckerten wir ohne Segel aber mit Motor die etwa 80 km und 6 Stunden Richtung Süden... Das Frühstück nahmen wir auf dem Weg ein und zum Mittagessen erreichten wir die Anse Grand Barbe von Silhouette.

Silhouette ist etwas grösser als La Digue und nur gerade 6 x 4 km. Sein höchster Gipfel, Mont Plaisir ragt 752 m über Meer und Dauban 740m! Im Ganzen wohnen in 2 Dörfer etwa 150 Einwohner und an der Ostküste befinden sich 2 Luxushotels…

When we set course for Silhouette at 6:30 this morning, there was still no wind in sight, so we chugged the 80 km and 6 hours south without a sail but with the engine... We had breakfast on the way and for lunch we reached Silhouette's Anse Grand Barbe.

Silhouette is slightly larger than La Digue and only 6 x 4 km. Its highest peak Mont Plaisir rises 752 m above sea level and Dauban 740 m! A total of around 150 people live in 2 villages and there are 2 luxury hotels on the east coast...

Eigentlich hatte Fred mit uns vor an Land der Anse Grand Barbe zu gehen, aber irgendwie schienen nicht die richtigen Leute am Strand zu sein… Ich weiss nicht, ob ich darüber schreiben darf, aber Fred kann einen an Orte bringen, die sonst nur für Hotelgäste zugänglich sind. Er hat in seinen 20 Jahren hier im Indischen Ozean seine Beziehungen geknüpft und will nicht, dass seine Gäste Eintritt bezahlen müssen (was ich auf Cousin und Aride Island tat: beides Mal EUR 20 - aber für einen guten Zweick: Schutz der Natur!)… So fuhren wir zur nördlichsten Bucht Anse Mondon. Dort brachte Fred uns mit seinem Dingey an Land und wir wanderten 30 Minuten steil aufwärts zum Aussichtpunkt auf einem riesigen Felsplateau (Glacis) und wieder zurück.

Fred actually intended to go ashore with us at Anse Grand Barbe, but somehow the right people didn't seem to be on the beach... I don't know if I am allowed to write about it, but Fred can take you to places that are otherwise exclusively for hotel guests. In his 20 years here in the Indian Ocean he established his relationships and doesn't want his guests to have to pay admission (what I did on Cousin and Aride Island: both times EUR 20 - but for a good cause: protection of nature!)... Though we drove to the northernmost bay Anse Mondon. There Fred brought us ashore with his dingey and we hiked 30 minutes steep uphill to the lookout point on a huge rock plateau (glacis) and back thereafter.

Zurück an Bord der Turquoise (https://www.voileseychelles.com) genossen wir unseren letzten Sonnenuntergang und Steves letztes leckeres Abendessen bevor es morgen zurück nach Mahé gehen würde…
