Gestern
hatte ich am Strand den Fischer Basil und seine Freunde kennengelernt. Er war gerade
vom Fischen zurückgekommen und hatte sein Boot noch voller Fische, die
ausgenommen werden mussten… ich war heute Morgen auf einen Besuch eingeladen
und Couteau holte mich mit einem kleine Boot ab. Basil ist meist auf See, so
dauern seine Fischgänge 1 Woche und er bringt so 2000 kg Fisch zurück, die er
an die grossen Hotels auf Praslin und Mahé verkauft.
Yesterday I met the fisherman Basil and his friends on the beach. He just came back from fishing and still had his boat full of fish that had to be gutted... I was invited for a visit on his boat this morning and Couteau picked me up in a small boat. Basil is mostly at sea, his fishing trips last 1 week and he brings back 2000 kg of fish, which he sells to the large hotels on Praslin and Mahé.

Studio der
Tropique Villa (http://www.tropiquevilla.com) mit 2 Ventilatoren und viel
Arbeit verbrachte… Gegen Abend ging ich im Sri Sai Supermarket einkaufen, der
echt fast alles hat, vor allem frisches Gemüse und Obst. Wenn man etwas braucht
und es nicht sieht im überfüllten Laden, dann fragt man und die netten
Angestellten finden alles! : ) Hier auf Praslin sind die Menschen noch mehr vom
Tourismus abhängig als auf Mahé, so habe ich hier noch keine Strassenstände
gesehen… aber auch hier ist die Zeit für ein Umdenken gekommen: Selber
produzieren statt importieren – das verringert auch die immensen
Verpackungsmaterialien!
It was already extremely hot in the morning, so I spent my day indoors in my pretty studio in the Tropique Villa (http://www.tropiquevilla.com) with 2 fans and a lot of work... In the evening I went shopping at the Sri Sai Supermarket, they have almost everything, especially fresh vegetables and fruit. If you need something and can't see it in the crowded shop, ask and the nice staff will find everything for you! : ) Here on Praslin people are even more dependent on tourism than on Mahé, so I haven't seen any street stalls yet... but here, too, the time has come for a rethink: Produce yourself instead of importing - this also reduces the immense packaging materials!

Um 17:30 Uhr
war ich bei meinem Nachbarn Couteau eingeladen, er wohnt meist in seiner Zweitwohnung,
einer einfachen Strandhütte, die er sehr ordentlich und sauber hält. Viele
seiner Freunde waren bereits dort und die Glut fast bereit für den Fisch von
Basil und meinen Beilagen Auberginen und Süsskartoffeln… Die Zeit, bis wir
essen konnten, verstrich im Nu: Die Seychellois sind sehr neugierig und direkt,
so dass wir viel zu Scherzen und Lachen hatten! Vor allem die Männer sind
unglaublich hier: Sie lassen nichts anbrennen! – Ich weiss nicht wie die Frauen
es hier aushalten!?
So
erhielt ich in meinem ersten Monat hier auf den Seychellen bereits 3
Heiratsanträge! Und sie akzeptieren keine Ausrede… besonders Tyron von Mahé scheint
es wirklich ernst zu meinen: Er ruft mich täglich an und hat mich bereits
seinen Eltern vorgestellt! Er ist 24 Jahre alt und ich sage ihm stets, dass ich
seine Grossmutter sein könnte… er entgegnet nur: Na und? Du bist eine sexy Grossmutter
und vor allem eine wunderschöne Lady! – Das ist Balsam für meine Seele… aber einfach
zu absurd… : )

At 5:30 pm I was invited at my neighbour Couteau, he usually lives in
his second home, a simple beach hut, which he keeps very tidy and clean. Many
of his friends were already there and the BBQ was almost ready for the fish
from Basil and my side dishes of aubergines and sweet potatoes... The time until
we had dinner passed quickly: The Seychellois are very curious and direct, so
we have a lot to joke and laugh! In particular men here are incredible: They do
not miss out on anything! - I don't know how women here deal with it!?
So, in my first month here in the Seychelles I already received 3
marriage proposals! And they don't accept any excuses... especially Tyron von
Mahé seems to be really serious: He calls me every day and has already
introduced me to his parents! He is 24 years old and I keep on telling him that
I could be his grandmother... he just replies: So what? You are a sexy grandma
and above all a beautiful lady! - It's balm for my soul... but just too absurd...
